Manufactured Boards.

There are many benefits to buying manufactured boards rather then retailed timber. They are alot cheaper and they are guarenteed to be the right shape, size, weight and have no knots in them. Manufactured boards are easier to laminate or veneer, also the plys can go at right angles to each other to give it extra strength. Types of manufactured wood include:

• Chipboard - Lots of tiny wood chips glued into a sheet.


• Plywood - Layers of wood stuck on top of each other at right angles.


• Blockboard - Blocks of wood in between 2 plys of wood.


• Sterling Board - Waste material used on council houses.


• MDF - Medium Density Fibreboard, wood fibres mixed with urea formaldahyde.


• Hexa Board - Layered with lots of hexagons in a honeycomb pattern to make it grippy.

Each type of manufactured board has its own set of properties and uses.

Last night i purchased the Gear 4 Black Box speakers (shown below) for my ipod classic. All in all i am very impressed by the speakers sound quality and compatibility with Aux inputs. The speakers include a digital 12 hour clock, 2 presetable alarms and an fm radio. The speakers come with a fully functional remote control and can work either from the mains or can be powered by batteries. The speakers look good and dont overpower the room with their presence, they are fairly small so you can place them pretty much anywhere in a room. The speakers look modern and they are designed very well. Other than using the remote control, on the top of the speakers there are touch sensitive buttons to change the volume, song and time. These work very well and come in handy if you lose your control. You can set alarms from the remote and set it to either wake you up with the radio, your ipod or an alarm. These speakers are usually about £50.00, but i got them in a bundle with my ipod and some Sennheiser headphones which would usually be £30.00, for £180.00 in total, which is decreasing the total price by £30.00 when the original total would have been £210.00 which i was quite pleased about. The only downfall with these speakers is the bass output, there is not very much bass on the speakers so i am considering purchasing a subwoofer to go with my speakers. I would highly recommend these speakers just because of the sheer quality of them, i think they are probably the best you can buy for your money
